Koi Pond floor mural. 2001. 6’x8’ hand formed, textured and glazed ceramic tiles. Trompe l'oeil fish pond with koi, water lilies; salamander, frogs, crickets along edge.

Library Heritage Mural: Installed 2003. 4’x10’. This photo tile mural incorporates historic photographic images contributed by community members and the local Historical Society. Ceramic tiles create a touchable, durable surface needed for this very public site where children and adults have direct access. At the opening of the facility, attended by several thousand community members, I overheard a little boy asking about the image of a wheelwright pictured in the mural. An older gentleman graciously explained how wooden wheels were made before rubber tires. Inter-generational and cross-cultural interaction. A printed handout lists the facts about each image.

Babe! 2002. Photo tiles. A single image of Babe Ruth is composed of many smaller photo tiles. From afar, one sees a larger-than-life image; viewed closer, the images becomes a pixilated ceramic “quilt” of other baseball players.
